Top hacks to plantify your house without the price tag

Creating your indoor jungle can come with a hefty price tag. The truth is that it doesn't have to. These are a couple of my favourite money-saving hacks you can apply when starting.

Choose wall ladders over installed shelves

Installing shelves can be a costly exercise that requires planning upfront.

Early in my plant journey, I bought wooden plant ladders, which offer a similar effect without permanent fixture changes. The added mobility is also excellent for seasonal changes and room mobility of your furniture.

Switch out fancy pots and planters for baskets

Planters and pots offer a more premium and elevated design for your space but can cost more than your plants. You can achieve a similar aesthetic with baskets and grouping plants on trays to create exciting design features.

Get by without buying the humidifier and opt for pebble trays

Humidifiers are a must for tropical plant enthusiasts, but if you start with some smaller high humidity plants, look at grouping and placing them on trays with pebbles. The natural water evaporation process increases humidity, and these trays also have a beautiful aesthetic design benefit.

Affordable quantity is your friend

If you want to create greenspace fast, I recommend looking at heartleaf philodendron and devil's ivy as your primary plants. These beautiful trailing plants are easy-care, propagate quickly and offer beautiful glossy foliage to brighten up your space.
